Transit container transportation is a key area of activity
for UTLC ERA. The company provides a comprehensive range
of transport and logistics services, being one of the largest fitting platform operators in the 1,520 mm gauge space.
The company's international transit corridors between China and Europe pass through the territories of Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus, from Dostyk and Altynkol border crossings (on the China — Kazakhstan border) to Bruzgi, Svisloch, Brest, and Kaliningrad border crossings (on the borders of Belarus, Russia, and Europe).
Cargo is transported to the border crossings
on China — Kazakhstan border by a Chinese carrier. At the border, transit containers are transferred to UTLC ERA service, where they are reloaded
onto the broad-gauge railway and sent towards the European Union border.
After the transit freight train arrives at Belarus — EU border
(at Bruzgi, Svisloch, or Brest border crossings) or in Kaliningrad,
the containers are taken over by a European carrier.
Pilots of accelerated trains are being moved to a regular schedule.
According to the company's estimates, this allows the optimization of up to 1,500 platforms per month. In 2023, 1543 XL trains were formed and dispatched (3-in-2 trains: 1,459, 4-in-3 trains: 84).
Timely provision and optimization of fleet structure in conditions of increased market volatility, both in terms of transportation volumes and directions.
To minimize the risk of train delays at borders due to increasing cargo volumes, several multimodal projects have been implemented. These routes pass through the port terminals of the Kaliningrad region and further use short-sea services (short-distance sea shipping) by liner shipping companies
to key ports in Northern Europe and Scandinavia.
Additional train routes have been agreed upon through border crossings between countries in UTLC ERA service:
- Ozinki/Semiglavy Mar
- Kartaly/Elimai
- Kanisai/Iletsk
