Growth of container transportation between Europe and China on UTLC ERA routes
In the first six months of 2023, UTLC ERA organised the transportation of 350 thousand TEU on China-Europe-China routes passing through Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, 14 % more than a year earlier.
In this flow, the shares of exports and imports between China and Russia together with Belarus are approximately equal to 30% each, and the growth of imports to Russia and Belarus amounted to 180%. The transportation volume at the end of 2023 may reach 700 thousand TEU. A. Grom, General Director of UTLC ERA, talked about it in an interview with The Beijing News.
UTLC ERA is one of the three largest container operators in Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. The company's share in cargo transportation in containers exceeds 50%. On rail routes China - Europe - China, the company organises rides of 9 out of 10 containers. In addition to Russia and Belarus, the main cargo flows 2022 accounted for five European countries - Poland, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Hungary. Traditionally, the primary loads are equipment, household appliances, cars and pulp and paper products.
